5 Raw Honey Skin Care Tips for Summer

June 27, 2020

No need to go to the spa for expensive treatments when you can use raw Manuka honey and do them at home!

Manuka Honey Products For Skin Care

Now, you know we love to eat honey, but raw honey is also recommended for a wide variety of “other” uses. Most notably, there are a million skincare and hair hacks on the internet that recommend using raw honey. I will have to admit, I have tried a few of these myself and was pretty surprised by what I found out. Having said that, we make no medical claim to the benefits of using raw honey in this fashion, nor do we recommend treating any condition without the advice of your doctor first.

Having said that, here are a few skincare hacks to check out and if you do decide to use them, please write to us and tell us how they worked out.

Soothing Stressed Skin

Yes, your skin can get stressed out too, it just shows up in a different way. For most of us, this would be in the form of a rash or hives. These spots can get quite irritated and are only made worse by scratching them. To address stressed skin, put your raw honey in the fridge to allow it to cool off a bit, then put a small amount on the stressed area.

Nourish Nails and Cuticles

Your hands can take a beating, especially during colder and/or dry weather. Manicures can be very expensive at the local spa, money many of us do not have during this pandemic. Rather than spend all that money on one trip, buy a jar of Manuka honey and you can give yourself a honey nail massage just about every day. Just massage the raw honey into your cuticle and nail and allow it to sit for about ten minutes before rinsing off with warm water. Repeat this process twice a day until you see your cuticle and nail condition improve, then do once a day.

Acne Facemask

Treating acne with a honey facemask is something that has been around for years. However, due to the varying skin conditions that can cause this, we highly recommend you talk to your dermatologist before using any treatment. If you get the go-ahead, mix a small amount of water with a dollop of raw honey, then gently massage into skin. Allow to sit for about 20 minutes before rinsing with warm water.

Conditioning Hair

This is becoming more and more popular and it is very easy to do. In a small bowl, add ¼ cup of raw honey and just enough water to thin it out – think the consistency of a conditioner. Massage mixture into wet hair and scalp. Wrap head in a towel and wait at least 30 minutes before rinsing with warm water (you can leave this in overnight if you wish).

Brighten Dull Skin with Honey Face Wash

If it works for acne, raw honey should work for dull, dry skin too, right? To use honey as a face wash, just moisten face with water, then use a tablespoon of raw honey to wash your face. Rinse with warm water and pat dry with a towel.
