Manuka Honey Recipes

Fall may be a ways away for now, but that doesn’t mean you or your dog should go without pumpkin in your life for that long! You can have yourself a slice of pumpkin pie, but make sure your dog has a chance for some pumpkin too, and you can start with these pumpkin honey dog biscuits!

These homemade, tasty dog biscuits are full of natural, healthy ingredients, and they’re probably good enough for you to eat as well. This particular recipe is easy to throw together if you have less than an hour to kill, and you can use the batter in more than one way. Whether you’re stuffing them into a Kong, freezing them, or rubbing all of them over the tub in your bathroom while washing your dog, your pup will give you all the love in the world the moment they try this recipe. Now, let’s get started on those pumpkin honey dog biscuits!

Ingredients for Pumpkin Honey Dog Biscuits

  • 1 cup of pumpkin
  • 2/3 cup of oats
  • 1 large apple
  • 6 tablespoons of plain Greek yogurt
  • 6 tablespoons of peanut butter
  • 1 tablespoon of Manuka honey
  • Optional: Cinnamon

Directions for Pumpkin Honey Dog Biscuits

  1. To begin, wash the apple, peel it, and then slice it after you remove the core. Be sure that all of the seeds have been removed.
  2. Cut the apple up into small, quarter-inch chunks, and then halve them length-wise to make even smaller cubes.
  3. Using a medium-sized mixing bowl, add the sliced apple, the pumpkin, the oats, the Greek yogurt, the peanut butter, the Manuka honey, and a pinch of cinnamon if you’re using it. Mix all of your ingredients well until they’ve all blended together into one mixture.
  4. Divide the batter up on a large ice cube tray (try to avoid spilling the batter too much, as it could make removing the treats difficult), create some treat-sized balls (using a size that’s best suited for the size of your dog’s mouth), or stuff your batter in a Kong.
  5. From there, place your treats in your freezer overnight. They should be ready to serve by the time you and your dog wake up the next day—at which point you can serve these biscuits at your discretion.
  6. Note: There treats should keep in your freezer for up to three months, and remember that these treats are just that—treats—so try to avoid replacing your dog’s regular food with them.
