In our never-ending quest to find unique and interesting honey skincare tips, I came across an article on India.com that presented a recipe that I have honestly never seen before. And, that is saying something, considering we have probably published hundreds of skincare hacks on here and reviewed thousands of articles in the process. Through all the articles and tips we have seen, NEVER have I seen tomato recommended before today.
The article covered three different skincare tips with honey, and here they are:
Honey and Lemon
Now, this is a combination we have seen and used regularly ourselves, so it was no surprise to see this in their article. Because lemon has very strong antioxidant properties on its own, it is ideal for using in DIY skincare. It is known for both toning skin and helping to close pores. The recipe calls for the juice of half a fresh lemon and 1T raw honey. Combine until smooth then apply to face (NOT under eyes), sit for about 20 minutes, then wash off with warm water.
Honey and Cinnamon
This is where things start to get a little weird. Now, I love the flavor of cinnamon, but I have never thought about putting it on my face. The article cites a recent report in the Biomedical Research and Therapy journal, stating that it can help reduce the appearance of acne, so we will bite and see if it works. The recipe calls for combing a pinch of cinnamon (can substitute 3 drops of cinnamon essential oil) and 1T raw honey. Mix them together, then apply the paste to acne spots. Allow to sit for 15 minutes, then wash off with warm water.
Honey and Tomato
The last time I can remember someone suggesting using tomato on skin I think I was about eight years old and had a bad sunburn. Someone suggesting sitting in a tub of tomato juice to calm down the heat. This recipe seems very similar but on a much more concentrated level. The recipe combines mixing tomato puree with 1T raw honey. Prior to applying to face, wash face with a mild cleanser, they apply the tomato and honey mixture to your face, allow it to sit for 15 minutes, then wash off with cool water.
