Manuka Honey Recipes

Coming up with your own homemade dog treats can be a tricky process, as you need to be sure you’re not including any ingredient your particular dog is allergic or intolerant to as well as ingredients dogs cannot have in general, such as chocolate or grapes. Fortunately, we’ve got you covered with a recipe your dog should absolutely love and be able to eat every part of—raw honey wheat dog biscuits!

This may be a stretch for some, given not as many people typically buy whole wheat flour (or almond or coconut flour, which would be even better for your dog), but you’ll likely take exception once you see how much your canine friend loves these treats. If you’re ready to give your dog the best reward ever, then let’s get started on those raw honey wheat dog biscuits…

Ingredients for Raw Honey Wheat Dog Biscuits

  • 2 1/2 cups of whole wheat flour
  • ½ cup of powdered milk
  • ½ cup of quick oats
  • 1 tablespoon of wheat germ
  • 1 tablespoon of Manuka honey
  • ½ cup of smooth peanut butter
  • 1 cup of water
  • 1 large egg

Directions for Raw Honey Wheat Dog Biscuits

  1. Preparation Time: 10 minutes. Cook Time: 45 minutes. Total Time: 55 minutes.
  2. To begin, preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Prep a baking sheet, such as through silicon sheets, parchment paper, or cooking spray.
  3. In a medium-sized mixing bowl, add the whole wheat flour, the powdered milk, the quick oats, and the wheat germ and mix them together.
  4. Add the Manuka honey and the peanut butter as well, continuing to mix. Add the rest of your ingredients and keep mixing until a solid ball of dough starts forming.
  5. Roll out your dough on a clean work surface that you have covered lightly with flour until you reach the thickness you feel is right for the size of your dog. Then, cut the dough into any shape you prefer (again, you should take the size of your dog into consideration) and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  6. From there, bake the dog biscuits between 40 and 45 minutes or till the treats have hardened. Allow them time to cool down while still on the baking sheet.
  7. Note: These biscuits will last around one week. After that, they will likely start growing “stuff” on their surfaces. At this point, you should throw them away, as no one wants their dogs getting sick.
