There are times, believe it or not, that a little honey on the outside of your body will do more good than putting honey on the inside of your body. While it may be difficult to stomach, pun intended, we have put together a few honey skincare hacks that will hopefully help you with some common skin care problems faced today. Of course, we recommend using raw honey. For these particular hacks, you can use our regular Manuka honey with some activity rather than the more expensive UMF 16+ honey.
Fixing Dry Lips
This time of year, as well as winter, finds many of us with dry, cracked lips. While there are obvious balms you can use to address this, if you happen to be in a pinch, just crack open your jar of raw honey and spread a thin layer on both lips at night before going to bed. You will hopefully wake up with softer, smoother lips that are literally lip-smacking tasty!
Honey for Acne
Acne is a situation that can arise from time to time as adults. When you see that odd outbreak, try applying a small amount of raw honey to the affected area then cover it with a band-aid. This ensures the honey stays in the affected area rather than ending up on your pillow. In the morning, rinse the honey off with warm water and you will hopefully see some improvement.
Overnight Honey Mask for Glowing Skin
As long as you can sleep through the night on your back, this overnight mask will work wonders on your facial skin. Combine one part raw honey with two parts aloe vera gel and apply the mixture on your face before heading to bed for the night. When you get up, rinse your face with warm water and voila, beautiful skin!
Scars in seeable areas are often an embarrassment for people, but no more. Each night before you go to bed, apply a small layer of raw honey to the scar, cover with a bandage, and let the honey do the rest. This, however, is not a one night fix, so we recommend continued use until the scar has faded enough to your liking.
This hack is similar to the acne hack, but this time the honey will not be acting alone. Prior to bed, mix equal parts raw honey and lemon juice together. Spread the mixture over the affected area and leave it on overnight to work its magic and bring the blackhead to the surface.
