Salt is a very controversial ingredient when it comes to skincare. We have noted here many times that when you see a face exfoliant recipe that features a strong, grainy ingredient such as salt, it is always better to check with your dermatologist. The recipe we have today, however, is not an exfoliant but rather a face pack. You will NOT be rubbing this into your skin as you would an exfoliant, which makes all the difference.
How is Salt Beneficial to Skin?
Salt is generally called a natural exfoliant in DIY skincare magazines, but that is not exactly how this recipe is meant to work. However, there are various other advantages to using a face pack with salt. For instance, salt can help to clean clogged pores and it is also believed to help reduce inflammation on the skin. Salt is also rich in various minerals, such as magnesium, potassium, and calcium. Salt is also believed to have some antibacterial properties, which makes it especially beneficial to those with acne problems.
Honey and Skin Care
If you read our articles regularly, you probably already know some of the alleged benefits of honey in skincare. For instance, honey is often touted as a natural moisturizer for the skin. With its naturally existing antioxidants and antibacterial properties, honey can also allegedly help with skin irritation as well as being used as a sort of natural anti-aging product. And, just as we mentioned about the salt, honey can help to clean pores, giving you another option to rid your skin of whiteheads and blackheads.
This face pack is extremely simple to make and only uses two ingredients, both of which you probably already have in your pantry. If you don’t have the raw honey, we do have an offer at the bottom of the page for you.
- 1t salt
- 1t raw honey
To make and use:
- In a small bowl, combine honey and salt
- Lightly apply the mixture to face and allow to sit for about 10 to 15 minutes
- Gently wash face with cold water and pat dry
If you do have any skin conditions or allergies, we highly recommend you consult with your doctor before using any DIY skincare products.
