The July 4 holiday will be here before you know it, and that means a LOT more time in the sun. For many of us, this holiday is usually the start of the vacation season. This year that is especially true, since many areas of the country are now just reopening. Cabin fever is at an all-time high, but we want to make sure you take the right measures to protect your skin and not overexpose yourself as you start to get outside and enjoy that sunlight a little more every day.
Exercise – this may not seem like a skin care tip, but exercise helps make your body healthy both inside and out. Not exercising can help lead to flabby and sagging skin, including your face. Even your hair can benefit from a proper exercise routine, so get out there and sweat!
Exfoliating – this is something we preach about regularly, as you need to get rid of dead skin cells to keep a glowing complexion. Exfoliators, however, can be some of the most expensive skin care products on the market. Rather than spending a boatload of money on these products, though, there are ample DIY exfoliating recipes online, with the best ones featuring raw honey as an ingredient. We do want to stress, however, due to allergies and a massive amount of bad information on the internet, we recommend discussing any new recipes or routines with your dermatologist before using them on yourself.
Eat Right – there is nothing like a bad diet to ruin good skin. Remember when you were younger and binged on Dr. Peppers or candy all day? What happened when you woke up the next day? If you were like me, you saw a kid with a bunch of zits staring back at you in the mirror. Eliminate unnatural sweets from your diet, such as soda and candy. If you want something more than water, flavor it with real fruit instead of buying soda. Fish, nuts, green vegetables, and superfoods that are packed with antioxidants are always the best way to go. For vegetables, keep in mind their raw form packs the biggest punch, so don’t eat sautéed broccoli smothered in cheese sauce to pretend you are eating healthy.
End Smoking – the best way to describe what smoking can do to your skin is by sending someone to see “There’s Something About Mary.” The character Magda is the epitome of what someone will look like if they smoke their entire lives. To be quite blunt, no matter how well you think you are taking care of your skin, one day you will wake up with a face that looks like a catcher’s mitt, so put that cigarette down!
Manuka honey is a great addition to any diet and it is far healthier than that little bear sitting on the shelf at your grocery store. If you would like to try our Manuka honey, click here. And, remember, we offer FREE shipping on all orders of $150 or more.
