Manuka Honey

Few natural substances are as sweet as honey, making the bee creation very popular for dietary purposes. People use honey to sweeten their hot and iced tea and smear it on biscuits, toast, and scones to make these bland foods taste fabulous. Honey has long been used to make natural remedies for various ailments, making it popular with practitioners of alternative medicine.

Honey has certain properties that make it useful for healthcare purposes. It is an anti-microbial, which helps to stop bacterial growth. Active manuka honey is especially potent in this regard and some people buy raw manuka honey online with the intention of creating remedies for the common cold. Adding ginger, lemon, and honey to tea creates a warm fluid that tastes delicious and can make you feel better.

Ayurvedic and oriental treatments feature many natural substances including honey. A paste made from ½ teaspoon of cinnamon and one teaspoon of honey is commonly used to treat cold symptoms. Like honey, cinnamon has antimicrobial properties and both substances are used to treat sore throats. People with allergies may be able to increase their resistance by consuming two teaspoons of local honey each day. There is no scientific proof that this treatment is effective but it is worth trying.

To get an energy boost, many people turn to coffee or energy drinks. Honey is a natural alternative that some athletes use. Take a teaspoon of honey by itself or dissolve it in milk or water as a midday pickup. When added to bathwater, ¼ cup of honey can make skin soft and smooth and the substance can even be applied directly to hair for beauty purposes.

Honey has antinflammatory properties, making it popular for treating burns, cuts, and other wounds since World War I. Brush a sterilized bandage or gauze with honey and apply the covering to the wound. Acne inflammation can be treated by massaging between a teaspoon and a tablespoon of honey into clean, dry skin and leaving it on for between five and 30 minutes. Rinse off the honey with warm water and pat skin dry.

To nourish lips, create balm by melting five teaspoons of coconut oil and three tablespoons of unbleached, grated beeswax in a double boiler or small pan. Remove from heat and stir in one teaspoon of honey and ½ teaspoon of vitamin E oil. Pour the smooth substance into containers and wait three hours for it to set before applying to lips.
