Yogurt Manuka Honey Parfaits for Dogs

December 11, 2018

Manuka Honey

For those who like them, a good, affordable yogurt parfait can make for a surprisingly refreshing treat, and it turns out that dogs have the chance to enjoy them too, thanks to this yogurt Manuka honey parfait recipe you can make right in your own kitchen.

Not only is this treat homemade, but it’s also one of the healthier recipes you can find for dog treats, leaving your excited dogs—or cats depending on the size of the treat—wanting as many as you can reasonably throw at them. It’s not enough to replace any regular meals, but this recipe will no doubt spoil your hounds with its gentle ingredients and ease on the stomach. If you think your pups will love these treats, then let’s get started on those yogurt Manuka honey parfaits!

Ingredients for Yogurt Manuka Honey Parfaits

  • 2 tablespoons of plain Greek yogurt, divided
  • 2 teaspoons of blackberry juice {from roughly three blackberries}
  • Pieces of raspberry
  • 5 ½ tablespoons of coconut oil
  • ¼ cup of instant or rolled oats
  • 1 teaspoon of Manuka honey

Directions for Yogurt Manuka Honey Parfaits

  1. For a mold, you should use a six-inch cookie cutter in the shape of a bone, but the size is up to you and can vary based on the size of your dog. Place the cookie cutter onto a flat-enough surface that will avoid leaks like a small cutting board or glass plate.
  2. Pour one tablespoon of the plain Greek yogurt in the mold and freeze it for about an hour. Add the blackberry juice to the mold, on top of the yogurt, freezing between 20 and 30 minutes.
  3. Set small raspberry pieces over the blackberry juice before pouring the other tablespoon of yogurt over the top. Freeze these new contents for about 20 minutes.
  4. To make the toasted, Manuka honey coconut layer of your yogurt parfait, you need to mix the coconut oil with the instant or rolled oats. Using a skillet, toast the oats over a medium-high flame between five and seven minutes until the oats develop a golden-brown color. Remove them from the heat before mixing in the Manuka honey.
  5. With toasted honey oats ready, place a teaspoon over top of the yogurt parfait before freezing it for an additional 10-15 minutes. From here, feel free to serve the parfait immediately or save it for a reward later on. You can store the yogurt parfait in a sealed container in your freezer for up to three months.
