Add Some Extra Flavor to Your Manuka Honey

For most honey lovers, the simple flavor of honey is enough. But, believe it or not, you can send your taste buds into a frenzy by infusing honey with some of your other favorites to create something with a more powerful flavor punch. To get you started, we have a couple of quick and easy recipes below.
Ginger and Lime Honey (great for tea or added to dressings)
- 1c Manuka honey
- Zest of two limes
- 8 slices of fresh ginger
- Combine ingredients in a small saucepan and bring to a boil.
- Once the honey comes to a boil, lower heat and simmer for five minutes.
- Remove the saucepan from the heat and cool for ten minutes at room temperature.
- Strain and enjoy!
Fig Honey (can be used as a sandwich spread)
- 1c Manuka Honey
- 2c dried figs, cut into quarters
- 1c apple cider vinegar
- Combine all ingredients in a small saucepan and bring to a boil.
- Once the honey comes to a boil, lower the heat and allow mixture to simmer for half an hour (stir as needed).
- Remove saucepan from heat, strain mixture, and allow to cool.
Pepper Honey (add this to a Bloody Mary for a bit of sweetness and a spicy kick!)
- 1c Manuka honey
- 2 jalapenos, cut into quarters
- Combine all ingredients in a small saucepan and bring to a boil.
- Once the honey comes a boil, lower the heat and allow mixture to simmer for half an hour (stir as needed).
- Remove saucepan from heat, strain mixture, and allow to cool.
Winter Spiced Honey (also great for tea or added to your favorite winter drinks, such as eggnog or cider)
- 1c Manuka Honey
- 1t cloves
- 3 star anise
- 3 cinnamon sticks
- 6 cardamom pods
- Combine all ingredients in a small saucepan and bring to a boil.
- Once the honey comes a boil, lower the heat and allow mixture to simmer for five minutes.
- Remove saucepan from heat and allow to cool overnight (flavors will combine).
- Bring the mixture back up to a simmer, strain, and allow to cool.
