Manuka Honey: Immune Boosting Tonic
A busy summer schedule, and the inevitable stress that comes along with it, can often have our immune systems running low making us more prone to those nasty summer colds. Lorna Jane Clarkson, the founder of Lorna Jane an active wear company, out of Australia, believes that juicing is often the solution to boosting your immunity and keeping the body healthy. As she states in a recent interview, not everyone has time to juice, but there are ways to get nutrients the body needs.
Clarkson believes that, if you do not have the time to commit to a full juicing lifestyle, taking juice “shots” may be an effective solution, some of which you do not need a juicer. For example, a turmeric, ginger, and orange juice shot can be effective – this shot is full of vitamin C, antiviral properties, and antioxidants that help support a healthy immune system and can also cure an upset stomach, soothe a sore or scratchy throat, or just give a needed boost of energy when you’re feeling blah.
Manuka honey is often a great ingredient to add to juice drinks and juice shots. Manuka honey is said to have a higher antibacterial effect than other types of honey, which can only add to the benefits that juicing or juice shots have for the body. When Manuka honey is combined with ginger, turmeric (which is known for its anti-inflammatory properties), and orange juice it is possible to have a small amount of juice or a simple juice shot that is easy to make but has a huge impact on your overall health.
