Manuka Honey , Manuka Honey Recipes
For those who consider themselves “dog people,” there are probably fewer things better than seeing your furry companion happy and healthy. Unfortunately, not everything that makes your dog happy is considered healthy. This can make finding healthy treats your dog actually likes hard to come by. When this happens, you can try making your dog some treats right in your own kitchen, and these Manuka honey donut treats are a great place to start! All you need is a few simple ingredients and a donut tray, and then you are all set to make your pooch’s day.
Ingredients for Manuka Honey Donut Dog Treats
- 1 cup of whole meal flour
- ½ cup of applesauce
- 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons of Manuka honey
- 3 tablespoons of warm water
- 1 egg, beaten and free range
- Icing: 50 grams of yogurt drops, plain
Directions for Manuka Honey Donut Dog Treats
- Note: The following recipe is only for treats, and they shouldn’t replace a dog’s regular meals. Make sure to consult your vet regarding major changes in your animal’s diet.
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit on the Bake setting. Using a donut tray, grease six of the donut molds lightly.
- Combine the cinnamon and the whole meal flour in a large bowl. Add together the Manuka honey, the applesauce, and the egg in another smaller bowl, whisking until the mixture is well combined.
- Now, mix your wet ingredients in with your dry ingredients until your batter is thick and consistent. If the donut batter has come out too dry, try mixing in some warm water.
- Fill each of the donut molds until the batter is even with the top. Bake the donuts for about 20 minutes or until they have cooked through. You can check whether they’re done by inserting a toothpick or fork into each donut. If the toothpick or fork comes up clean, they’re ready, and you can remove them from your oven. Allow the donuts time to cool down to room temperature.
- For the icing, melt your yogurt over boiling water while using a heat safe bowl. Dip every donut into the yogurt before setting to the side to set. Serve immediately or when your dog needs a quick treat or reward.
- If you feel like being creative, you can add one or more various toppings to your donut treats as well, such as liver sprinkles, drizzled carob, or raspberries.
