What You Should Know About Different Honey Festivals Across the U.S.
September is a great time to attend local festivals and fairs – great weather brings people out in droves to check out what is going on around town. This time of year, many cities are holding annual honey festivals, celebrating one of America’s staple sweet treats as well as educating the public about the bees that produce it. If you haven’t made it to a honey festival yet this year there is still time – here is some information you should know about upcoming honey festivals.
Hahira Honeybee Festival – Hahira, GA
Hahira, Georgia offers a week’s worth of events for their 34th Annual Honeybee Festival from September 28 to October 3. Festival goers will enjoy a honeybee pageant, bike ride and 5k run, arts and crafts, mechanical pull rides, live entertainment, and so much more at this year’s celebration. This year’s theme for the festivities is “Honoring the American Legion Post #218” and many of the week’s events will be held at the local Community Center.
Honey Harvest Festival – Cockeysville, MD
The Oregon Ridge Nature Center in Cockeysville, MD will be hosting its Honey Harvest Festival October 3 and 4. Members from the Central Maryland Beekeepers Association will be on-site and activities include hive demonstrations, mead making, beeswax candle dipping, food, and much more. This is a great event for families to enjoy and learn more about honeybees.
Sussex County Harvest, Honey & Garlic Festival – Augusta, NJ
Sussex County will be holding its 6th Annual Harvest, Honey, and Garlic Festival on October 10 at the Sussex County Fairgrounds. The day’s events will include a farmers market including local fruit, flowers, vegetables, and wine and the Sussex County Beekeepers Association will be in site providing educations materials and displays along with a wide array of honey products. This festival is perfect for families and with activities geared toward all age groups.
