If you are a fan of daytime TV shows, you probably already know who Bobbie Thomas is. She currently serves as the Style Editor for the Today Show on NBC. For more than a decade, her style and skincare advice have made people sit up and take notice and lucky for us, she is a huge fan of using natural products for daily skincare routines.
With most people watching their bank accounts like a hawk these days, high-priced skincare is not an option right now, which means you need to raid your pantry to find products that can serve the dual purpose of putting both in and on your body.
During a recent airing, she shared several natural skincare tips, three of which incorporated honey into the recipes.
Hand Treatments with Honey
Today, most people are washing their hands more than they ever have before. All that time with soap and water can dry out your skin, so you must continue to hydrate your skin daily to ensure your hands don’t age before their time.
For hydration, use combine either avocado or banana with raw oatmeal and honey. Together they make a wonderful hydration blend for your hands.
If you are starting to see dark spots come through on your skin, combine a squeeze of lemon juice, baking soda, and some raw honey, then apply the mixture to the spots.
After applying either of these treatments, wrap your hands in plastic bags and place a warm washcloth over them. Allow everything to sit for about 15 minutes, then wash off with warm water.
Hair Treatment with Honey
Being stuck inside all day is also going to take its toll on your hair. With many states around the country already seeing very warm weather, it means the AC is on all day. Just like the dry heat, this can dry out your scalp and hair.
If you see that your hair is getting dried out and your normal conditioner is not doing the trick, Bobbie has a trick for that as well. She recommends mixing apple cider vinegar, eggs, and honey. Apply the mixture to your hair and allow to sit just as you would a conditioner before rinsing. Bobbie says this will enhance the shine and softness of your hair as well as making it stronger.
