Manuka Honey Cocktails for the Holidays
December 09, 2019
Over the next few weeks, more than a few glasses are going to come together to toast family, friends, and the holidays. Unfortunately, many of those glasses are going to contain the same old, boring, stale drink recipes that have been around for ages. If you happen to have Manuka honey in your cupboard, it is time to flip the script and make some cocktails that grab everyone’s attention.
The Sparkling Margarita
- 2 oz Tanteo Blanco Tequila
- 1 oz sparkling wine
- 75 oz fresh lemon juice
- 75 oz Manuka honey
Combine ingredients in a shaker with ice. Shake well, strain into a chilled coupe and garnish with a lemon twist.
The Egg Cream Soda
- 1 oz Fernet-Branca
- 1 oz ginger syrup
- 1 teaspoon Manuka honey
- 5 oz Carpano Antica Formula Vermouth
- 4 drops salt tincture
- 1 whole egg
- Soda
Add all ingredients except soda into a shaker, and shake hard without ice until ingredients are well incorporated. Add ice and shake again until cold. Pour into a fizz glass, and slowly top with soda to create a frothy head. Then garnish with a mint sprig and grated nutmeg.
Santa’s Suit
- 1 ozTullamore D.E.W. Original
- 1 oz dry vermouth
- 1 oz ruby port
- 2 dashes aromatic bitters
- 2 dashes chocolate bitters
- 1 teaspoon Manuka honey
Add all ingredients into a chilled mixing glass, add ice and stir until chilled. Pour contents into a cocktail glass. Zest an orange peel over the top, then garnish with that orange peel and a cherry.
Rosemary Tequila Cosmo
- 5 oz Santera Reposado Tequila
- 75 oz fresh lime juice
- 75 oz cranberry juice
- 1 teaspoon Manuka honey
- 1 one-inch piece rosemary
To make the cocktail, add all ingredients to a shaker. Shake with ice and strain into a coupe. Garnish with fresh cranberries and a rosemary sprig.
Loaded Eggnog
- 1 oz E&J VSOP Brandy
- 25 oz milk
- 1 teaspoon Manuka honey
- 1 egg yolk
Pour the milk, brandy, egg yolk, and honey into a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake well and strain into a stemmed coffee mug. Garnish with freshly grated nutmeg.
