Buttermilk Manuka Honey-Glazed Biscuits Recipe
March 15, 2019
There is nothing more reliable for a dinner plate than a warm biscuit, especially if it’s homemade and not something straight out of a Bisquick box. Admittedly, this quick-to-serve option will greatly help you out in a time crunch, but if you feel like making your own, you could do no better than these buttermilk Manuka honey-glazed biscuits!
Not only will you be treated to the fluffiest, most flavorful biscuits ever, but you’ll get to try them in so little time that you may wonder if you did use that old box of Bisquick. So, without further ado, let’s get started on those buttermilk Manuka honey-glazed biscuits.
Ingredients for Buttermilk Manuka Honey-Glazed Biscuits
- 1 cup of melted, unsalted butter
- 5 cups of self-rising flour (and extra to shape)
- 1 cup of cool, unsalted butter, sliced in ¼-inch slices
- 1 cup of unsalted butter, sliced in ½-inch slices
- 3 cups of ice-cold, full-fat buttermilk
- Large flake sea salt, for serving
- Manuka honey, for serving
Directions for Buttermilk Manuka Honey-Glazed Biscuits
- To begin, preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit on the Bake setting. Using a 10-in. x 12-in. x 2-in. baking pan, add your melted, unsalted butter and distribute it evenly before setting to the side.
- Using a medium-sized mixing bowl, sift the self-rising flour before adding your ¼-inch slices of butter. Snap these butter slices into your flour with your fingers until your mixture becomes humbly.
- Add your ½-inch butter slices and snap them until nothing larger than a nut remains. Make sure the process is completed within five minutes or your butter slices will start melting.
- Add in the ice-cold buttermilk, mixing gently till the dough has barely formed. Place the dough on a clean, lightly floured work surface, and then begin patting and shaping the dough until it has become a sheet with a ¾-inch thickness. Avoid overmixing.
- With a three-inch ring mold that has been dusted with flour, cut out the biscuits (you should have enough dough for a dozen) and set them on your baking pan. Bake the biscuits between for 30 and 40 minutes but remember that this time can vary based on how much you want the tops of your biscuits to brown.
- When they’re ready, brush the biscuits with warm Manuka honey, and then sprinkle sea salt on them to taste. From there, feel free to serve the biscuits warm along with your preferred condiments, such as cinnamon butter, or pimento cheese.
- Note: You should be safe to store these biscuits in your refrigerator for up to two weeks.
