Manuka Honey Products For Skin Care
Today is Saturday, and that means honey skin care tip day! After searching the web, we found some rather interesting recipes that all feature honey that we wanted to share. For some of these recipes, however, especially the exfoliating ones, we want to recommend you speak to your dermatologist before using to ensure some of these ingredients will not have a negative reaction with your skin type. We also recommend using raw honey rather than cheap, processed honey you find in most grocery stores.
Okay… let’s get to it!
Cleopatra’s Bath
We have seen variations of this recipe before and it is about as easy as it gets to make. After you make up the concoction, add the mixture to a hot bath, and relax for the rest of the evening.
To make: combine ¼ cup honey, 2c of whole milk, and a few drops of your favorite essential oil. Since you are looking to relax, lavender is probably one of the better choices.
Honey-Almond Body Scrub
If we are being honest, you made decide to eat a few spoons of this mixture before you use it as a body scrub. Now, ingredients such as almonds can be rough on skin and some skincare specialists would advise against using them in this way, so please check with your doctor before using.
To make: combine 2t of ground almonds with 2t honey and mix until well combined. The mixture should have a paste-like consistency. Rub into face or on body for areas you want to exfoliate, then rinse with warm water.
DIY Skin Lotion
Extreme weather conditions can really dull your skin, as can being stuck in the house with air conditioner all day during a pandemic! These natural ingredients should have that skin looking bright and fresh in no time at all.
To make: combine 1t honey with 1t olive oil and a quick squeeze of fresh lemon juice. Mix until well combined, then apply the mixture to dry areas and allow to sit for 20 minutes. Wash off with warm water or a warm washcloth.
Shine Boost for Hair
When using a hair boost with honey, try to use it more like a conditioner that you allow to sit before rinsing out. You will be amazed at how well this works.
To make: combine 1T honey with 1quart warm water. After shampooing, rinse mixture through hair and wait approximately one hour before rinsing.
