Homemade Mask Helps with Winter Skin Problems
Winter is here and the cold, drying air is not doing any favors for our skin. While moisturizers may help to some degree, flaky winter skin is craving more moisture and nutrients the average lotion can offer. Luckily, Liz Earle, a well-being and skincare expert, has compiled some great advice on how we can combat the dryness of winter skin as well as some of the oily patches that pop up now and again. The best part – a lot of these tips use what is already hiding in your kitchen cabinets.
Here are some of the recipes she shared on The Morning and that are featured on Shows.stv.tv.
Brightener Face Mask for Dry Skin
This face mask can easily be made from the ingredients found in almost anyone’s kitchen – this one is made from caster sugar, banana, and Manuka honey. Manuka honey will help to boost the skin’s natural beautifiers while the sugar will act as a scrub to help remove dead skin and overall brighten the skin.
Ingredients for Brightener Face Mask:
- Two heaping teaspoons caster sugar
- ¼ of a ripe (very ripe) banana
- ¼ teaspoon Manuka honey
How to Use the Brightener Face Mask:
- Combine all ingredients together in a small bowl and mix until they form a smooth paste.
- Apply the mixture to clean skin and rub gently over the skin to help exfoliate dry, dead skin cells.
- Mixture does not need to remain on the skin – simply rub around the skin’s surface until satisfied with the effects and rinse off.
- This mask can also be used on the hands, elbow, feet or any other part of the body where the skin is suffering from the winter blues.
