L’Oréal Introduces New Manuka Honey Skin Care Line

Manuka Honey Products For Skin Care
For years we have been giving you DIY Manuka honey skin care recipes and tips. Now, however, it appears as though major skin care manufacturers are finally catching on to the benefits of using Manuka honey in your daily skincare routine. So much so, in fact, that L’Oréal has a new line adding Manuka honey to its ingredient list.
The new line is called “Age Perfect Intense Nutrition” and it is targeting women over the age of 60-years-old. The product is being touted as being able to provide “softer, more nourished and comfortable skin” with daily use.
As far as endorsements go, L’Oréal could not have asked for a better one after the Editor-in-Chief of “Better Homes and Gardens,” Julia Zaetta, tried the products. She stated, “My skin looked immediately more radiant than it has for years. Even more of a lovely surprise is how healthy and glowing it looks in the morning. I’m thrilled!”
That is a ringing endorsement, however, the product comes with quite a hefty price tag. We don’t doubt for a second these products are incredible, but there is no need to spend big bucks on face creams when you can make the product yourself for far less in terms of overall yield for the product you buy and make.
To get you started, here is a Manuka honey face cream recipe you can make at home:
Ingredients
- 3T aloe vera gel
- 1t Manuka honey
- 3T rose water
- 1/2c shea butter
- 5 drops tea tree essential oil
Will need a double broiler, hand mixer, and a sterilized glass jar.
Directions
- Use double boiler to melt shea butter
- Remove from heat when fully melted and add aloe vera, rose water, and Manuka honey
- Mix well and place mixture in refrigerator to cool for about 20 minutes
- Use a hand mixer to whip the mixture until it turns to a fluffy white cream
- Transfer mixture to a sterilized glass jar and store in a cool place for use (as long as the mixture is stored properly, it will last for months)
We recommend using the daily face cream with Manuka honey at night. While sleeping, your skin cells go to work to repair themselves, so this is when the cream will be its most effective.
To use, wash face with tepid water. Once clean, use a pea-sized amount of the mixture and apply to all areas of the face. The mixture should be a little sticky from the honey. Allow the cream to remain on your face overnight. Wash off in the morning when you wake up to a refreshed and revitalized look.
