Raw Honey Breakfast Bread
December 22, 2019
Breakfast breads are a great way to make a fast meal during the holiday season. They can also serve as a quick snack for some unexpected guests that show up after dinner. Rather than make the same recipes you usually make, we found a breakfast bread that uses raw honey to sweeten the bread, which will give your visitors a special treat and possibly introduce them to the rich flavor of Manuka honey for the first time.
Ingredients:
- 3c flour
- 1/2c sugar
- 1t salt
- 5t baking powder
- 1/2c butter
- 6T Manuka honey
- 1/2c milk
- 2 large eggs
To Make:
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit
- While oven is warming, spray 9*13 backing pan with non-stick cooking spray
- Using a large bowl, combine flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt
- Whisk until well-combined
- Using a microwave-safe bowl, combine honey and butter, then heat until butter is almost melted completely
- Remove from heat and combine honey and butter completely
- Once these are combined, add milk to mixture and whisk again to combine
- Add eggs to mixture, and whisk to combine again
- Pour butter/honey mixture to dry ingredients
- Mix together until all ingredients are well-combined
- Spread batter evenly over baking pan, then bake for 15-18 minutes
- If bread appears to be overly browning, tent baking pan with foil to prevent the bread from being burning
- Bread should be golden brown when ready to remove from oven (can test with toothpick â should come out clean when bread is done cooking fully).
Feel free to add your own twist to this bread as well. For instance, you can add fresh blueberries or strawberries to the recipe if you know this will be served for breakfast. If you are making as more of a nighttime snack with coffee, consider adding nuts and/or chocolate chips to the recipe. You can also make a cream cheese icing, similar to what is used for carrot cake, which would taste incredible on this bread.
When serving this for breakfast, you can make a homemade honey butter to really set this off. To make the butter, just allow the butter to soften, then whip in honey, and refrigerate again.
