Raw Honey, Chestnut, and Fig Stuffing Recipe
November 10, 2019
I was scouring the internet to find a recipe for a holiday staple where raw honey be used and I think I hit the jackpot on this one. Stuffing is a staple during Thanksgiving and Christmas but it is often bland and very dry. This recipe is packed with flavor and the addition of raw honey assures that it will be both moist and have a unique flavor that will impress your guests.
Ingredients for raw honey, chestnut, and fig stuffing:
- ¼ cup butter
- 1 large onion, diced
- 2 celery stalks, diced
- 5 cups chestnuts, roasted, peeled and chopped
- 16 dried figs, stems removed, cut in quarters
- 2T raw honey
- 5 cups chicken broth
- ½ cup fresh parsley, chopped
- 12 oz package of seasoned stuffing (you can obviously make your own with seasonings and bread)
To make:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit
- In a large saucepan, heat butter until melted over medium heat
- Add onion and celery and cool until tender (about five minutes)
- Add chestnuts and figs and cook for two minutes, stirring constantly
- Add honey and broth, then bring to a boil
- When mixture had come to a boil, remove from heat
- Add parsley and stuffing to mixture and lightly combine
- Season with salt and pepper to taste
- Transfer mixture to a greased Pyrex dish and place in oven
- Bake for 30 minutes (or until stuffing is heated throughout)
If you really want this stuffing to be moist, add it to your turkey and it will be unlike anything you have ever had before!
